Seventh Lisbon Architecture Triennale

Debate: Construction and debris - challenges of its application

19 Oct - 16:30 · []

The NADA NOVO (NOTHING NEW) Association asks: Can we value the Anthropocene as a contemporary “mine” — a vast deposit of materials awaiting reinterpretation? This rejection of the “new” stems from the unease generated by the invisibility of the contexts in which we find traces, practices and paths of reuse of architectural components. How is the accumulation of these components dispersed across the territory? How can we qualify their values? How can we think about the uncertain futures they may have? What are the practices of reuse? What are the influences? What textures, patterns, colours, geometries and stereoctomies? What techniques? What are the attitudes, perspectives, intentions? Provocations? Who are the agents of design, project and construction? Will the conceptual and practical boundaries be diluted?

Architecture and urbanism student groups from IST, ISCTE and FAUL will play an active role in the meeting, being called upon to stimulate and encourage participation.
