For Shivani and Revati Shah, founders of Indian firm ReSa Architects, architecture is like theatre: not a static design, but a combination of voices and bodies. ‘We are reluctant to produce renderings; the project is a situational practice that takes into account the community and nature,’ they explain. ‘If we are asked to build a 1,000-square-metre villa, we have to ask ourselves: is it really necessary? Designers need to take a step back: build less and plant more.’
