Seventh Lisbon Architecture Triennale

Since the middle of the twentieth century, annual emissions of carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels have increased every decade. In the 1960s, emissions were close to 11 billion tons per year, while in 2024, they are estimated to be 37.4 billion tons. A typical coal-fired power plant releases 5,000 tonnes of particulate matter and three million tonnes of carbon dioxide annually. This increase in the Earth’s carbon cycle is the main cause of climate change and the transformations connected to the rapid expansion and intensification of the technosphere.

trescientosmil

trescientosmil is a Barcelona-based think tank committed to the transformation of cities. We combine architecture, urban planning, and data analysis to improve strategic planning and decision-making towards a positive societal change. Phenomena like digitalisation, climate change and social inequality are nurtured and expressed through urban dynamics, altering social pacts and the spatial configurations they define. Understanding these relationships and their delicate balances—working with complexity without simplifying it—is the foundation of our work, ultimately aimed at developing strategies and actions towards new forms of fair and sustainable coexistence.
